The 1960s marked a period of growth and transition. In 1965, after serving in the Army and completing his college education, Lyle Kruegel joined his father Leo full-time. That same year, Lyle's wife Bonnie began working in the office, further strengthening the family's involvement in the business. Throughout the 1960s, '70s, and '80s, Kruegel Gas Service continued to expand its reach, adding bulk plants in Fountain, High Forest, Elkton, and Bristol. This expansion allowed us to serve a wider area more efficiently.

The 1990s brought significant developments. Todd Kruegel, representing the third generation, joined the company full-time in 1989 after graduating from college, with his wife Chari joining the office in 2001. In the early '90s, we added our Eyota facility, where we began unloading propane from railcars. This strategic move has allowed us to maintain a reliable propane source, ensuring we can meet our customers' needs even during peak demand.

The fourth generation, Reid Kruegel, joined the business in 2024, ensuring our commitment to quality service and community values continues into the future. This generational involvement is a cornerstone of our business. Every generation has contributed to the company from a young age, whether painting tanks, delivering cylinders, or helping around the office during summer breaks.
